Riverside Assembly of God
Methuen, MA
This project included the renovation & retrofit of the glulam arches located within the sanctuary section of the church. Roof distress was being caused by decay and termite damage at the base of arches, which are fastened to concrete piers below. Thrust forces exerted from the arching action of the glulam structural members were not being resisted properly resulting in the arches bowing out at the sides, and downward deflection at the center of structure. To restore the arches to their original design capacity, DEI designed steel channels to be bolted at both sides of the arch base in order to transfer the load carried by the sound portions of the arch to the pier and foundation below.
